Call for papers

Five years after the first conference (2014, Panteion University) and after two conferences in Thessaloniki and Athens, the fourth conference on Cultural and Creative Industries is inviting scholars and policy makers to a new meeting to record research activity in Greece, to exchange views and to create opportunities for new collaborations.

At the 2019 conference, emphasis is placed upon technology and networking as key factors of the environment where the CCIs operate and develop. Increasing digitization and networking affect virtually all processes of production, labor and consumption in the creative and cultural sectors, raising several questions for research and various issues concerning policy makers. Many of these issues do not concern exclusively the CCIs, but their largely intangible and symbolic nature that places them among the most affected sectors.

Topics

  • The CCIs in the age of gig economy
  • The role of platforms in the CCIs organization
  • New forms of funding and new business models (crowdfunding, new forms of marketing of the CCIs, etc.)
  • Labour in the new economy (integration of CCIs workforce in global networks; business and workforce mobility; precarity, collaborative spaces and collectives)
  • Digitization and location: compatible or incompatible concepts?
  • The CCIs and their role in the Circular Economy: new materials, new techniques, new models of cooperation
  • The CCIs audiences: reception and consumption in the new conditions
  • Spatial inequalities in the creative economy
  • Spatial clustering and creative ecosystems
  • Mapping creativity
  • Cultural and creative industries and policy-making: from local to supranational

Sessions for young researchers will be organized, as well as seminars on research methodology and networking activities.

One-on-one sessions for PhD and postdoc students will also be organized.
